Terms & Conditions
Sessions
Sessions will be 60 minutes long and will be scheduled for once a week. It is important that we start and end sessions on time. To minimise disruption, I ask that client’s refrain from using their phone in session and switch it to silent mode. Emergency calls must be taken outside of the counselling room. I will not see you if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Payment
Our first initial session is free, as we will be discussing this contract, carrying out various assessments and discussing whether therapy is the ‘right fit’ for you at this time. The cost of subsequent sessions will be £50 for an hour which will need to be paid, via bank transfer, prior to each session. I will let you know bank transfer details if you decide that you wish to work with me.
Telephone/video counselling
Please ensure that you are in a place where you are not able to be overheard and consider using headphones. Please secure your computer, phone and emails against unauthorised viewing by third parties. It is recommended that you only use a private computer or phone and not a work or public computer or phone. Please keep anti-viral/firewall protection updated alongside manufacturer updates.
Should we experience a technical breakdown which prevents us from video conferencing, I will call your mobile and we will finish our counselling session by that method. Please ensure you have full reception for your device and that it is charged up in case of such an eventuality.
Cancellation
In the event of me not being able to see you for reasons of illness, holidays, training, or other, I will give you as much notice as possible and offer an alternative appointment.
I will require 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel a session. Should you be unable to attend, due to unexpected illness or crisis situation, please let me know as soon as possible. Non-attendance without notice will be recorded as a DNA (Did Not Attend). You will be sent an email notifying you of this and will be offered an alternative session. When 2 DNAs are recorded you will again be notified and, if no explanation is given within a 7-day period, your case will be closed.
Our relationship
It is important to protect the therapeutic relationship and so I will not engage in any social contact with clients outside of the therapeutic relationship. For example, I will not accept any requests to connect on social media. If we happen to meet by chance, I will politely acknowledge you but will not engage in any further interaction.
Ending
We will initially work together for 6 sessions and review progress regularly with the option to extend for as long as is required. These sessions are yours, so you will know when you feel ready to finish and I will support you with this. You are under no obligation to continue if you decide that you wish to stop our sessions at any point. However, if there is anything you are unhappy with or wish to change in the way we are working together please let me know. It is very important that you always feel able to be open and honest about how things are going.
